Re: My Black Gun picks
Im debating getting a wood handguard for it, ive seen a few that would have better grip if damp than the current one i have.
Or im debating selling this and picking up a FAL with a nice sight, but i already plugged maybe 4oo rnds through this, dillema i tell yah. |
Re: My Black Gun picks
Good choice. Probably could buy 3 more for the price of a FAL.
It all depends on what you want to use it for. Ammo is cheaper than .08, shoots well to 200m, easy to handle (FAL is a lot more weight). I would just put Ultimak's upper gas tube sight rail and their lower handguard with rails with a quality Red Dot, sight and spend the extra money on mags and ammo. But what do I know, I don't own guns, they kill people! AE |
Re: My Black Gun picks
Think il take your advice with this, and just buy a FAL seperate then.
Thnx for input dont know squat about AKs hope i did ok. |
Re: My Black Gun picks
The reddot i saw goes to the inside of the rifle on the left ,i coulda purchased one for alittle less than the one i did, maybe il go pick up the reddot one since i was only 299 but it had a folding i meant stock atleats it would be spare parts with the sight i guess.

Re: My Black Gun picks
DB
You could buy some skateboard grip-tape, and apply it to the forend for better grip. |
Re: My Black Gun picks
Nice job you've done on that MAK-90. The MAK-90 is a well-built and relatively underpriced rifle. Did you thread the barrel 14x1TPI or is that muzzle brake only attached via setscrews? How do you like the Tapco stock?

Re: My Black Gun picks
The sight i was looking at was a russian one with the large battery on the side, its heavy, but very good.
The guys i buy from bend for me when i buy cause ive known em for quite a bit,but these AKs are bulky with add ons . |
Re: My Black Gun picks
Gopher i had my friend design it for me,he does a great job il ask.
And i love the stock. |
Re: My Black Gun picks
Ohh i checked he wrote down its threaded barrel.
The barrel he said he did,for what thats worth. |
Re: My Black Gun picks
M only gripe is the kick back that im not used to with this and the mag release,i like easy mag releases with the ak you gotta remeber to hold the muzzle hard while pushing forward on the mag release.

Re: My Black Gun picks
The only reason why i posted these pics is cause Krug asked me too.
But great advice and thnx all. |
Re: My Black Gun picks
Do you know where your friend got that muzzle brake? I've been looking for one and not having a lot of luck online.

Re: My Black Gun picks
To help with the kick you can install this,
http://www.blackjackbuffers.com/inde...c855b3d7d0cb5c and this extra power spring, http://gunsprings.com/RifleShotgun/AK47_RsNF.html To help with mag release you can install this, http://www.blackjackbuffers.com/inde...c855b3d7d0cb5c If you're not concerned with mag retention you can change mags on an AK blisteringly fast once you've got the technique down. What you do is grab a new mag, use the back edge of the mouth of the mag to disengage the mag release and push out the old mag in basically one move, then rock the new mag into place. You can bugger up the finish on your mag and your rifle with way but that is the price for speed. It's a good technique to know but generally speaking I feel mag retention is much more important than speed since realisitically you're going to find cover and/or a lull in the fighting to swap mags anyway. The standard AK mag release is good from the perspective of mag retention. |
Re: My Black Gun picks
I saw you were reading and knew you would share thanks alot REV,i was hoping you chime in ,think im gonna go with the spring maybe but this puppy feels very good.

Re: My Black Gun picks
Hey Scooper, I think I saw you mention the Kobra holosight earlier, its a great sight, I've got one and would buy another. Get the weaver mount quick detach though, instead of AK side rail mounting one, it takes a different battery that supposedly lasts longer but is less common. Its useful for if you have different guns you would want to mount a holosight onto. I can't mount mine on other guns because they need the AK rail.
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AKS006-44765-2712.html Thats the kind of mount you should get. You can get that mount, and then a Kobra or any other holosight/red dot sight (I recommend Millet if you don't want a Kobra) Tantal sells Kobra's at a decent price http://tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/kobra2.html http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/37143-45955-973.html Thats a decent foregrip, I have a vertical foregrip and a flashlight mounted to mine. I used to have a bipod, too, that would clamp onto the bottom rail, but it broke. Cheap chinese shit that wasn't heat-treated and stripped as soon as I tightened it :rolleyes_m: Just start buying ammo by the case, no less than 1,000 rounds at a time, steel cased or brass are totally fine, I've used wolf, brown bear, golden tiger, american eagle, it all feeds fine, FMJ, JHP, SP, works great. Every AK is a little different but they're all pretty good. Theres 100,000,000 of them for a reason :tongue_ma: You made the right decision! Get the FAL too, if you want, but AK is always a good choice! |
Re: My Black Gun picks
What B. Jones said. Especiallly about the Kobra.
That Red Dot is a nice sight. Right up to the point that you drop your rifle, even on soft dirt. Then it's history. SOOO, either buy SEVERAL of the Red Dot's given how cheap they are and you can replace them when ever you break one. OR just get a Kobra. And yeah, AMMO BY THE CASE is the ONLY way to buy it. |
